ATLANTA – The HBCU Network – Audition and Casting Call event is designed to discover fresh, untapped talent from HBCU students and alumni from the Atlanta University Center (AUC) Consortium and beyond.  Top talent will be offered on-air positions on the new HBCU Network in various capacities, from host to correspondents and from poets to musical artists.  The event is scheduled for November 8, 2011 at GTM, Inc., located in Castleberry Hills at 239 Walker Street, Atlanta, GA  30313 near the AUC and takes place between the Atlanta Pitch Summit (Nov. 3rd – 5th) and the BronzeLens Film Festival (Nov. 10th – 13th).

With headquarters based in Atlanta, The HBCU Network anticipates and welcomes heavy involvement from AUC Consortium students.  “As we prepare for the historic network launch during Black History Month 2012, it is our intent to engage the student bodies in a compelling way, while also introducing the network to our primary targeted viewer,” says Candace Walker, EVP Programming and Operations.

The event will be hosted by Atlanta based, GTM, Inc. (Guerrilla Tactics Marketing + Media), a strategic lifestyle marketing company with expertise in trend-setting, urban and popular culture.  Students should plan to arrive early for the 12 Noon to 6:00 PM scheduled event, in order to register and prep for their presentation in front of the judges.

Performances will be taped for archival purposes, with top contenders posted on the network’s website at by Thursday night.  Participants should check the website to see if they are among the finalists.



Winners will be announced during the Bronze Lens Award Ceremony on Saturday, November 12th at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. “Thanks to BronzeLens organizers, The HBCU Network will have a platform to announce and reveal the network’s

newest on-air stars in our programming line-up,” Walker continued, “We are thrilled to be able to launch careers that night, on the spot.”


The Audition and Casting Call event seeks to find the best and most talented students to fill the positions of host, co-host, news correspondent, sports correspondent,singer, dancer, poet, actor and musical artist.  Judges include celebrities and industry professionals, like Director and HBCU alumnus, Jerry Davis, whose feature film “Shanghai Hotel” will be showcased during the Bronze Lens Film Festival on Friday night.  Other luminary judges to be announced.
